Cheers to the software developers, the life hackers, the life learners, and just about all the people who document their expertise with HackerNoon! You’re what makes us tick, and we’ve spent the better part of a year on this - and are thrilled to share YOUR NEW WRITER DASHBOARD.

That’s why our incredible team’s been in the lab. Let us walk you through this new beautiful dashboard so you can get the most out of your experience!

Get Started Writing

The most important part of the writer dashboard is straightforward, it’s getting started writing! And that’s as easy as ever. Wherever you go on HackerNoon, there will be a big inviting button that lets you create a new draft. Click it, choose which editor you want to use, and let your words flow.

The Writer’s Top Nav

Right below the website-wide top nav, you will see the writer’s top nav where there are four essential features:

  • Drafts: This will let you see all your published and submitted drafts.
  • Published Stories: View your published stories in all their glory.
  • Comments: Check out all of the (I’m sure) wonderful comments left on your stories.
  • Track Submissions: Submitted a draft? Keep track of its status here.

Statistics, Notes, and Writing Contests

As you go further down the dashboard, you will come face-to-face with even more incredible features. Let’s go through them.

Be Proud of Your Progress!

There’s no greater feeling than knowing people enjoy and read your content. That’s why we’ll routinely send you e-mails letting you know when you hit certain milestones!

Because nothing motivates people more than seeing how far they’ve come. That’s why this big green feature is perfect. This is your writing progress. It shows how many stories you’ve published, how much time people have spent reading your stories, and how many words you have written. But this is a general overview. To know the stats of individual articles, click on the “Check Your Stats” button that we discussed earlier.

In a Writing Slump? These Story Templates Will Help

After your writing progress, scroll down to see three different categories. The one on the far left will show your published stories. The one in the middle will show different writing prompts. Click on one of them, and it will immediately create a draft with all of the questions loaded in.

Want to share your experience as a woman in tech? Have an interesting Web3 story to tell? Do you have a software performance story that you are particularly proud of? Use these prompts to create an article about these topics.

On the right side are different resources to help you on your HackerNoon journey. Everything from writing headlines to getting published is covered. If you’ve never written for HackerNoon, this section has everything you need to know to get started.

Check Out Your Fellow Writers!

One of the most important aspects of being a writer isn’t writing at all; it’s reading. That’s why we’ve included a section in the writer’s dashboard where you can read the great articles of the HackerNoon community. It’s a never-ending list of articles we think you’ll love; there’s always something to read.

With this new and improved writer’s dashboard, we hope it’s given you the motivation to write your next great article!
