The new domain ending will start a new individual document type: sheets.new, forms.com, slides.new and of course, docs.com. Sub domains redirects to get you to the folder with all your document types. Also note, it works with singular and plural terms, but only works if logged in. The.new domain ending only works when you're logged in, so you can't use it on the site. The new domains end with a new name and a new document type.
