Our poor eyes, which are apparently the window to our soul have to bear the brunt of the digital age we live in. We stare at the computer screen as part of our daily jobs and studies. It doesn't help that we are glued to our mobile screens also.
I love wearing glasses, said no one ever. Exceptions include those who do it as a fashion statement or those who prefer it over the intensive contact lens routine. Worse problems than having to wear glasses include headaches, neck strain, and dry eyes. My eyesight is a price I paid for my love of programming, but I know I could have taken better care.

Though I believe the bionic lens would be perfected and made affordable in the future, still we need to protect our natural eyes. Here are a few simple ways to do it.
Follow the 20–20–20 rule.
Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break and focus your eyes on something at least 20 feet away.
If you are a windows 10 user, Here is a python notifier program for you. If you are a beginner in Python, this page would get you started. After installing python, Install the module win10Toast. Save the following code and run it in a terminal, and it would remind to follow the 20–20–20 rule. You could customize your own message title and content in the show_toast() function.

Other tips include:
Blink frequently to avoid dry eyes.
Test your eyes regularly and use the right prescription glasses.
Position yourself at distance 20–40 inches away from the screen.
Download and use f.lux to adapt monitor light to the surrounding.
