Too Long; Didn't Read

Learning isn’t just books. In school, we are told to “study this text,” “read this novel,” or “research this paper.” But learning also happens by interacting with people, getting to know your co-workers and creating new projects. You can learn more by spending a day with the right person than reading 10 books. Having that in mind, as cultural set up for the office, we agreed to have a monthly “Demo Thursday” where technical devision could demonstrate their projects to Sales and Business people from that company :) By doing so, the gap of misunderstanding between sales reps and developers are slowly diminishing. To do so, Google forms was one of the options for sign ups. Even though it was easy to create a Google template for our needs, the options for styling was limited. Google predefined the layout and colors you can pick. For people who has a creative side and some knowledge of HTML and CSS, those parts might not be enough.

Therefore, we started look at other platforms that would allow us to create a custom RSVP with an option to extend the application for the further needs.

Oracle Visual Builder Cloud Service (VBCS) was our #1 choice.

Key Features

Here are a few select features we noted as providing especially high value to VBCS users:

  • Code-free development to build responsive user interfaces for desktop, tablet and mobile devices.
  • Many opportunities to leverage existing designs and investments in Oracle cloud platforms and applications, providing extension while maintaining a seamless user experience.
  • RESTful connectivity to remote data services. This could be on-premise applications, Oracle platform such as the Schema Cloud Service, or to the business objects in VBCS. With the creations of loosely coupled connections between services and data object definitions, a combination of data from different sources can easily be included in one application.
  • The dislocation of business logic and data services from the user interface layer allows applications to be quickly developed upon existing complex data structures and model layers.
  • Resulting applications can be accessed and shared standalone via a URL.

VBCS has a user-friendly development environment. By selecting a needed components and dropping them at the location you need, you create a personalized application.

VBCS provides the environment that automatically links the info from forms and stores it into database. That functionality allows not only to have an easy and fast access to the attendees info, but also retrieve this data when its needed.
