On December 9, 1992, U.S. troops stormed Mogadishu as part of Operation Restore Hope, an international mission led by the United States to provide humanitarian aid and restore order in war-torn Somalia. The operation was initiated to secure the delivery of food and relief supplies amidst widespread famine and violence. The intervention marked the beginning of a larger effort to stabilize the region, but it faced significant challenges and culminated in the infamous Battle of Mogadishu in October 1993.
