Kris Adair, Mycroft AI CFO, On What It's Like Working In Currently The Fastest Adopted Technology

Co-Founder, Mycroft AI. Serial entrepreneur, wife, mother.

What's your startup called? And in a sentence or two, what does it do?

Mycroft AI. We are the privacy focused voice assistant. The open-source answer to Big Tech.

What is the origin story?

Mycroft was created by my co-founder, Joshua Montgomery in our makerspace. He wanted to voice enable our makerspace. He couldn’t find any open source solutions that worked so he built the first prototype.

What do you love about your team, and why are you the ones to solve this problem?

We have a dedicated team and a large open source community fighting to make sure that privacy and open source solutions exist.

If you weren’t building your startup, what would you be doing?

Working on my coffee farm or building another startup.

At the moment, how do you measure success? What are your core metrics?

Success to me is about acquiring new skills. I love learning and growing as a person.

What’s most exciting about your traction to date?

We have grown our community to over 60,000 members to date.

What technologies are you currently most excited about, and most worried about? And why?

Our field is exciting as it is the fastest adopted technology currently. It has been adopted faster than smart phones.

What advice would you give to the 21-year-old version of yourself?

Don’t settle. You can do so much more than you realize. Surround yourself with people doing different things and you will be inspired.
