Now that we are changing the cadence of the Global Coin Research newsletter from daily into twice a week, we are no longer reporting on the news happening onthe ground in Asia every day. Nonetheless, Asia is a cryptocurrency hub and there are remarkable things and announcements happening everyday in China, Korea, Japan, Singapore and the rest of the region.

We want to ensure that you are getting the content and information you want. If you’d like to keep a better pulse on what is going on day to day more closely, whether that is spending 5%, 10% or 40% more time understanding the Crypto scene in Asia, here are the optimal ways to do so.

Here’s the quick guide:

LEVEL 1If you just want to know slightly more than what you know now, and spend only 5% more time daily on knowing the pulse in Asia, just use Twitter as recommended below and subscribe to our bi-weekly newsletter. Frankly, that is ALL YOU NEED.

LEVEL 2If you want to know everything that is going on with a particular regional community or company development in Asia, and spend 10% more time on knowing what’s going on in Asia, follow through Level 1 and Level 2 as guided below.

LEVEL 3If you want to spend your time understanding the entire ecosystem in Asia, and spend 20% more time on knowing what’s going on in Asia. First, book a trip to Asia if you haven’t been, primarily China, Korea, Japan and Singapore and ideally go to a Crypto meetup there or a conference. And then follow through Level 1 — Level 3 as guided below.

LEVEL 4If you want to spend your time understanding Asia deeply, and spend up to 40% of your time knowing what’s going on in Asia. First, learn Chinese and practice with me :) (not really joking there, happy to help should you need any resources and I can practice mine) And then follow through Level 1 — Level 4.

LEVEL 1

Twitter https://twitter.com/

Twitter is the most reliable and consistent good tool to get the most timely news on Asia. And one can curate the content to their own liking and preference for what they want to see. I’ve noticed that a lot of smart Crypto individuals that understand Asia only dump their thoughts on Twitter, instead of writing out detailed long-form content. I suspect it’s one or a combination of these 3 reasons :

  1. they don’t like to write long-form content
  2. they are too busy
  3. their English may not be great and it’s easier to get away with a comment in one sentence tweet

I personally prefer writing out in more detail so I can hash out my thoughts and explain to you guys how I think about things. Here are the ways you can leverage us to learn more about Asia on Twitter:1. Follow us on Global Coin Research on Twitter as we retweet and highlight anything that is going on Asia related throughout the day2. We have just curated a Global Coin Research Asia Crypto-Handles list to hear directly from the top Asia teams themselves as well as the top Asia investors and founders. Feel free to suggest to me if there is anyone I should add that I do not have in there.

LEVEL 2

Listen to our podcast and keep an eye out on our weekly writeups- to get a contextualized understanding of how companies operate in Asia and the Cryptocurrency communities there.

Google Alerts- Asia is large, and you may have certain strategies or areas that you want to learn in particular. You may also find that Twitter can get very noisy. So I find that setting up Google Alerts on any particular region that you care about, and then including keywords such as “blockchain”, “cryptocurrency” can garner a reasonable list of news for yourself daily.

China Money Network https://www.chinamoneynetwork.comChina Money Network is a media company that writes about all things China tech in the English- language.Pro: The news tone is more finance-like, but the content is unique, timely, and contextual, with an easy to digest website interface.Con: The site covers all things tech in China, so cryptocurrency is only one focus and it’s not guaranteed all the happenings coming out of China will be covered daily.

8btc https://news.8btc.com8btc is a media company that covers China-specific Cryptocurrency news in the English-language. Pro: The team translates a lot of articles that are originally in Chinese and publishes them more quickly than any other English-based mediaCon: I suspect the team is still quite lean and as a result, they don’t publish every single day, and the number of articles published is very limited. The writing is also not as easily digestible as a native English site such as TechCrunch
