Today the hospitality industry relies on traditional 1.0 and 2.0 hiring platforms to keep their businesses fully staffed. The traditional 1.0 hiring platforms consist of job boards where applicants can submit their applications, resumés, and set up a time for an interview with the hiring manager to see if the job position is a good fit. The 2.0 hiring platforms are funded by businesses who rely on staffing agencies to vet potential employees. These platforms offer individual shifts to hospitality workers, which involves the applicant agreeing to work a shift the day of or in the next few days with the potential for hiring if the shift goes well.


The Problem: Hospitality is a fast-paced industry dependent on a slow, overwhelming process of hiring that can be costly even for the most successful businesses.


How is the service industry falling behind? Say a restaurant has a cook and dishwasher who quit on the same day or even the same week, the cooks end up doing dishes, the food quality gets worse, orders can take longer to fulfill, servers get fewer tips due to customer dissatisfaction and wait times, and customers aren’t as likely to come back. The only current solution in the market is the 1.0 and 2.0 hiring method of hiring using job ads or contacting a staffing agency to find someone to come in. In the meantime workers can get overworked, managers come in to fill shifts or move staff around to areas of the restaurant they haven’t been trained in to cover shifts, the quality of service declines, and the business is affected negatively if there aren’t enough employees to support the demand of business. The issue then illuminates the flaw in the 1.0 and 2.0 systems, they don’t solve the problem fast enough.


The Solution: Having immediate access to every available ready-to-hire dishwasher and cook in your city to offer shifts instantly.


We saw the need in the market and created a solution with Sousflex. Sousflex intends to be the fastest hiring platform in the hospitality industry giving businesses instant access to a local pool of available hospitality staff that can offer their services to hiring managers within minutes.

For example, someone looking to hire can use the app to adjust the search filters listing the available dishwashers and cooks that meet the filtered settings and find people meeting their criteria instantly. Management can then review candidate profiles which list work history and experience replacing traditional outdated resumés and applications. Work can then be directly offered to the candidate of their liking and get that shift covered within minutes. Similarly, a hospitality worker can open the app and start accepting shift work that matches their desired hourly rate and find work instantly. We want to offer features where a business can fully staff their whole restaurant, bar, event, stadium, or any other hospitality industry business in just a few clicks.


In the age of fast pace technology, Sousflex aims to change the way businesses and employees interact with the hiring process. The Sousflex app is currently being beta tested with a signup form on our website and is not available for public use just yet, but we plan to launch a minimum viable product later this year.
