Too Long; Didn't Read

Web 3.0 is labeled the third generation of the internet, the type that allows for websites and apps to process your information in super-fast manners through technological aids such as machine learning. While Web 2.0 was regarded as the social web that made the internet interactive, Web 30 focuses on creating content and creating content. The introduction of web technologies such as Javascript, HTML5, and HTML5 has sparked the desire for content creators to build interactive web platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and other social platforms to share information.

Have you ever thought about a world that constantly evolves? The recent spike in information and technology makes it better. The internet is not left out in these phases of information and technology. From web 1.0 through 2.0, things are about to turn around as a transition into the third phase of the web is unfolding.

Think of an age where you will have the opportunity to do all you've wanted to do on the web with little or no restrictions. Cool, right?  An era that gives you the opportunity to control information from your end without intermediaries. No middlemen, so many endless possibilities!

As free beings, we want to love to explore greater possibilities without restrictions. We want to be independent of every form of centralization. Web 3.0 allows for a decentralized system.

A system that includes technologies such as distributed ledgers and storage on the blockchain. This ensures the decentralization of data which gives you the opportunity to make bold claims about your own data and information.

Web 3.0 explained

Web 3.0 is the next phase of the internet and like every other aspect of a technologically driven world, change and innovation are not alien. Web 3.0 is labeled the third generation of the internet, the type that allows for websites and apps to process your information in super-fast manners through technological aids such as machine learning, decentralized ledger technology (DLT), and the like.

The semantic web as it was initially called by Tim Berners-lee, the world wide web founder gives room for a more autonomous, intelligent, and open internet, one without barriers. One interesting high point of web 3.0 is the idea of decentralization.

If you have never thought that data and information on the internet could be made in such a way that users can claim direct interaction with information shared, unlike what was the case for web 2.0, I bid you welcome to the future of the internet, the web 3.0.

The protocol in which web 3.0 is built gives users the permission to assess information without a central authority. Moreso, the absence of a central controlling node would also give it an upvote in the scheme of things.

Is  Web 3.0 an upgrade from Web 2.0?

Web 2.0 began to gain popularity around the 20th century. It is an improvement from web 1.0 which was static. Users could only read the information on the web without any form of interaction.  Web 2.0 is regarded as the social web that made the internet interactive.

The introduction of web technologies such as Javascript, HTML5, and CSS3 has sparked the desire for content creators to build interactive web platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and other social platforms to share information.

On the other hand, Web 3.0 is the next stage of the web evolution that allows for a high  internet intelligence.

It processes information with near human-like intelligence via AI systems. These systems run smart programs to assist users to navigate their way through the internet space.

According to Wikipedia, Artificial intelligence is a type of intelligence demonstrated by machines, as opposed to the natural intelligence displayed by animals and humans.

For instance, the AI  voice control assistant developed by Apple over time has displayed more intelligence. Its functionality and scope have been beefed up since it appeared in the iPhone 4S model. Siri detects speech, and with the inclusion of AI, they perform advanced and personalized commands.

In today’s world, Siri and other AI assistants such as Samsung’s Bixby and Amazon’s Alexa can decode questions as-” where is the nearest bus stop?”, and some other personalized commands.

A close look at Web 2.0 and Web 3.0, you’d see that they employ similar technologies but different approaches. Here is more; While Web 2.0 would focus on reading and writing content, Web 3.0 focuses on creating the content. Web 3.0 is the better one because it has more to offer.

Web 3.0 intends to employ technology to enhance the widespread dissemination of information amongst internet users.

Simply put, Web2.0 allows for connecting web users, and web3.0 goes a step further to include advancements in the area of currency,  content ownership, speed, technology, application, and the like.

How web 3.0 would work

According to internet experts, the web 3.0 approach is likened to getting a virtual assistant who practically knows alot about you and could access the Internet for answers to your questions. Such a giant database.

Let’s do some picture painting here for better understanding—say you are looking for the best hotel around you to lodge with a couple of friends, you want a space with all the luxury and comfort but you seem to have a moderate budget in mind.

Here is the gist, web3.0 technology through search engines affords you the luxury to locate the best hotel in town that meets your budget.

With Web 3.0,  the internet is at your service and this is because it is able to decode and present information on the Web. Basically, there is an influx of information with the advent of web3.0. The search engine helps to interpret the context of your information. It would return relevant results and suggest other content related to your search terms.

Is a decentralized internet possible

The internet space as we see it today is controlled by a small number of huge corporations. The likes of Google, Facebook, and Amazon have dominated the space for a while. However, the world already clamors for a decentralized internet protocol, one without barriers and need for  third-parties.

With all fully set, organizations such as UUNET, Verizon, level 3 and AT&T would no longer have full autonomy to the internet space.

Web 3.0 advocates for a space where people are involved in their own information sharing; whilst controlling their data. The decentralization of the internet is inclusive, democratized, and secured in nature. What this will do is to  reduce the huge dependence on third-parties.

Moreso, as decentralized apps and software programs gain popularity year in and out, a decentralized Internet is able to stand shoulder to shoulder with huge tech companies dominating the space.

The emergence of bitcoin in 2009 opened  the world to the idea of decentralization. The internet possesses the potential to encourage online privacy and information security.

Conclusion

Web3.0 is the future of the internet and the inclusion of cryptocurrency gives a good view of what the future holds for the internet world.

Users would be able to interact with the world without having to worry about centralization by current tech companies. This is coming to be an advanced version of the internet, an improvement from the former.
