Too Long; Didn't Read

To complete the Extortionist, visit the Customs map and pick up the unknown key from the dead scav near RUAF Roadblock. Then, use the key to open a cabin in the trainyard, pick up the item from within the cabin, and extract.

The latest 0.13 patch in Escape from Tarkov came with a progression wipe, which brings everyone back to the early tasks such as the Extortionist.

This is the second quest in tarkov given by Skier and it takes place in the game’s most popular early game map: Customs.

In this guide, I will explain how to complete the Extortionist quest in Escape from Tarkov and provide tips to ensure you’ll make it out alive from Customs.

Extortionist Quest Requirements

Unlocking the Extortionist quest is fairly straightforward. Specifically, players will need to be level 7 and have completed the Supplier quest, which is the first task given by Skier.

For the Supplier, you will need to find in a raid one Module-3M armor and 1 TOZ-106 shotgun. Both of these can be found on scavs and are common.

Some of the best ways to farm scavs are on Woods, on the top left bunkers, and on the bottom left scav house locations. Otherwise, you can always do a scav raid on Factory and look for scraps on dead scavs. Both the armor and the shotgun are practically worthless and nobody will loot them unless they’re also doing the Supplier quest.

As for getting to level 7, prioritize playing as a PMC, focus on killing scavs, and explore larger maps with multiple loot locations such as Woods, Reserve, or Lighthouse. If you’re feeling confident, the newly added Streets of Tarkov is also a great option.

How to Complete the Extortionist in Escape From Tarkov

To complete the Extortionist Tarkov quest, players will need to obtain the hidden valuable cargo on Customs. This task is split into two parts: getting the unknown key and unlocking the portable cabin to pick up the quest item. Let’s examine these in turn.

How to Get the Unknown Key for the Extortionist Quest

The unknown key (Unknown) is one of the only keys in Escape From Tarkov that has a 100% spawn rate. This key spawns in every raid, and as long as you’re the first player there, you’ll always find it.

Keep in mind that with the latest update, this key only has one use. If you open the cabin on the second part of the quest and fail to extract, you’ll have to get the key again.

This key spawns in a dead scav near the RUAF Roadblock extract, on the fence hole next to the Crackhouse. Here’s the exact location.

With a good spawn, you’re guaranteed to get the key. After looting the Unknown key, make sure to place it in your secure container, and that’s part 1 of the quest.

As for the second part of the quest, you can do it in the same raid after obtaining the key, or later on.

Where to Use the Unknown Key and How to Complete the Extortionist Quest

To use the Unknown Key in Tarkov, you will need to visit the trainyard area, near the New Gas Station, towards the boiler side of the Customs map. Specifically, the unknown key opens a small portable cabin located in the middle of the trainyard area.

This is a fairly open area where scavs roam around and players can see you from many locations, so make sure to approach carefully and try to clear every angle.

After going inside, in the middle of a cabin, there’s a piece of cloth on the ground and within that, you’ll find the quest item. Crouch and hover your mouse around until you find it.

After obtaining the item, the hardest part of the task begins. Now, you have to extract. If you die after picking up the item, you’ll have to visit the cabin and loot it again.

Check which extracts you’ve got available and start running, with caution, toward the closest one. Ideally, you’ve spawned on the warehouse side of the map and ZB-012 is available for you.

Some useful tips here include trying night raids where stealth is easier and taking your time without rushing things.

Wrapping Up

To sum up, that’s everything you need to know on how to complete the Extortionist quest in Escape from Tarkov. This is one of the early-game Tarkov quests given by Skier that can be done by visiting a specific location within the Customs map.

It may take several tries since you need to extract with the quest item but as long as you’re careful and don’t rush things, you should be able to complete it easily.
