Greetings from Bubble! Today we’re announcing a new, simpler pricing.

We explain the changes in detail below. In a nutshell, our new pricing offers unlimited private apps, SSL certificates for all apps and the ability to buy additional server capacity. We do not limit on workflow runs. The new system is per-app based, instead of being per-account.

For our existing paying customers, nothing changes until you want to switch! You’ll be able to keep your current plan as long as you want, but we hope you’ll see more value in the new system.

New plans

Plans are now on a per-app basis. That lets you get the features you need for the apps that need it. Therefore, the plans are now controlled in the Application Editor, under the Settings Tab. Payment methods and invoices can be accessed in the Account page as usual.

You can find the details of our pricing in our Pricing page. Here are the key changes:

  1. Private apps are now unlimited on any account. This will let you add an additional layer of safety on all apps.
  2. Applications on a free plan will have a Bubble-branded banner in run-mode.
  3. All paid plans offer SSL on a custom domain.
  4. We do not limit workflow runs.
  5. Applications on a Professional plan and higher can buy more capacity for better performance.
  6. You can save money with a yearly membership or choose a monthly plan for more flexibility.

Our existing paying customers retain current settings and features until migration (more details under ‘Switching to the new system’). Dedicated customers are not impacted by this change.

Adding capacity a-la-carte

Bubble lets you run advanced programming operations on our servers. On the Professional plan and above, we reserve server capacity for your app to ensure that your app runs quickly. Each app with reserved capacity starts with 2 units, which determines the amount of server and database CPU time that your app can consume in a given interval. You can scale your app to match your app growth by buying additional units for just $20/month (up to 10 additional units).

If your app temporarily exceeds its capacity, we rate-limit the speed at which it runs to keep it under the threshold. You can monitor your usage in real time from the Application Editor.

Switching to the new system

While we think our existing paying users will love the value our new system provides, we are giving them the flexibility to choose when they want to switch. You can stay on a legacy plan as long as you want. Until you migrate, you’ll have access to the same feature set as your existing plan. If you are on a legacy paid plan, you’ll have a reserved server capacity, but won’t be able to add capacity until you migrate to the new system.

As each plans comes with a certain number of private apps, all your private apps that are included in your previous plan app limit will be under the same plan, including newly created apps (if you’re under the maximum number of private apps).

You can change plans under the Plan section of the Settings Tab and click ‘Migrate to new system’. This will show you a popup with the list of apps you own, where you can customize the plan for each of them. Once this is done, you’ll be able to enjoy the new plans!

Other news

Beyond our main update regarding the new plans, we also want to share some product updates that were pushed over the last 4 weeks. If you follow the forum you’ll see the whole list of announcements and you can see our release notes since our last email. Here is a highlight of some interesting stuff we’ve added:

  • A smart detection of API workflow request data when you trigger them with webhook (including handling nested objects).
  • The ability to define dynamic colors; colors can now be dynamic expressions, which enable your users to customize their design themselves.
  • And we grew the team a little more with Neerja, who will be working with our users to help them get the most out of Bubble!

Thanks for building on Bubble!

It’s great to see our community grow (more than 80,000 Bubblers!) and help each other on the Forum. More and more apps are launched every day, we’re grateful to have your trust and are excited to see what you can do with Bubble.

Cheers,The Bubble Team
